Movie Music
Movie music has always interested me, and I find myself listening to movie soundtracks more and more in recent years. To be able to hear the story in the music and to discover new elements after hearing the soundtrack a hundred times over is what keeps me interested in the music. Film music is about capturing the moment. Being able to compose to the second and being able to create depth and color makes it like nothing else.
Wegens Corona Gesloten
Wegens Corona Gesloten was my first time composing for film. When I was offered the opportunity to compose for this series, I couldn't say no. This experience was completely new and I was able to learn more and more throughout the process. Especially interesting was the ability to create a world in sound. Since this series was made and released throughout a year, I was involved in the same world of sound for a long time - constantly thinking of themes and seeing how I could bring them back in new forms. This brought a palette of colours and possibilities to give the music more depth with each episode.

My goal for the soundtrack was to compose in a very minimalistic way. This was a new challenge because my music used to be quite complex and dense. What was also new was composing for piano and strings. Besides a few small compositions, I had never written for such an ensemble. This made composing a gratifying experience where I came across many new elements. As the series progressed, more string instruments were added and I was able to explore each theme further.
